Started in 2015, Waaipoort Farm and Rosendal Permaculture Centre is an initiative of the registered Non-Profit Company (NPC) Sustainable Community Development.
The Farm is located outside the village of Rosendal/Mautse in the Eastern Free State of South Africa.

- Slow and mitigate climate change,
- Work with available, non-extractive water resources to re-hydrate landscapes,
- Reduce carbon consumption,
- Build structural resilience through plant, animal and microbial diversity to buffer us from catastrophic events,
- Localise food production, processing, distribution and consumption
- Empower people from all cultures and livelihoods to actively and passionately participate in community-based processes and policy changes that build true food democracy and climate justice.
The whole farm is designed according to Permaculture principles and has been developed along these lines. More than 40% of the farm is dedicated to 'wild' nature. We regenerate areas where erosion and encroachment of invasive vegetation has taken place and re-plant these areas with native vegetation. Another 40% of the property is dedicated to regenerative agriculture and cultivated mixed forestry, 5% is allocated to member dwellings and the rest of the property is allocated to the following intentions:

- Communal buildings with administration, library, media & IT hub
- The regenerative agriculture college
- Agricultural buildings & workshops
- Accommodation for volunteers, students and guests.
